Purcellville’s Sylvanside Farm Hosts Fundraiser
PURCEVILLE, Va. – Sylvanside Farm, a popular venue in Purcellville, is hosting a Barn Dance with games, dancing and barbeque to benefit the hunger fighting efforts of neighboring non-profit JK Community Farm. Started last year by JK Moving Services to alleviate hunger in the community, the farm grows chemical free, healthy produce and protein to those struggling with food insecurity in the region. With tremendous volunteer support, the 150-acre farm will donate 113,000 pounds of food this year to nonprofit partners, including Loudoun Hunger Relief, Food for Others and Arlington Food Assistance Center.
The JK Community Farm was started in 2018 to help meet the need for fresh, local, organic, healthy food for the 90,000 people in Northern Virginia who suffer from food insecurity. The JK Community Farm also offers support through educational programs, corporate team building, and community gardening. The Farm’s harvest ensures that 90,000 meals will reach families facing food insecurity this year. The Barn Dance fundraiser will support the farm’s expansion to serve even more people in the region.
