This season with our sweet students partcipating in distance learning, we will not be hosting our typical field trips – so we have decided to add a Self-Guided Field Trip Curriculum! Our spots are limited to 30 people each hour to ensure proper social distancing. We hope to help students develop a solid foundation for understanding of the natural world, nutrition, and agriculture. Please use this time to explore the JK Community Farm and make connections with your child’s currciulum and nature. Once you have have signed up, you will recieve an email with activities tailored to your students grade level and the Virginia Standards of Learning.
Field Trips are a great opportunity to see farming up close while learning about sustainable vegetable production and the value of food security. Field trips usually include a tour of the farm, a farm activity, a game, and a healthy snack. JK Community Farm field trips can be tailored to meet a class’ specific interests and lesson plans. Our farm manager, Mike Smith, has endless agricultural facts that he loves to share with students. We work with students of all ages, but ask that fieldtrips are limited to 50 students. Please contact us at least two weeks in advance to schedule field trips.
